News from July 2009

The Chairman's July Newsletter

Dear FSC Supporters

Before everyone disappears for the summer holidays, I would like to bring you up to date with all the Company's news.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

We were delighted when Ian Cullen agreed to direct us again this year in our autumn production of Much Ado About Nothing which takes place in the Bourne Hall from Wednesday, October 28th until Saturday, October 31st 2009, including a Saturday matinee. After successful auditions, Ian cast the play - cast list attached - and rehearsals are already underway. Your support for the production is vital for the continued success of the Company, so please put the performance dates in your diary as soon as possible.

THE SHAKESPEARE REVUE

After last year's success of the Shakespeare Revue, we decided to put on a repeat performance at St Joan's Centre in June. We were fortunate to have Laura Musco to choreograph some movement (dare I say dance?) into the show which, coupled with Robin Wells' expertise as Musical Director, ensured that the Revue was again enthusiastically received. We raised nearly £600 for the Company's coffers, much to the delight of our treasurer!

ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL

Many of you will have seen Phedre at the Maltings last month. In a ground-breaking experiment, the National Theatre beamed the play out live to cinemas and art centres across the country. The NT is going to repeat the experiment with its production of All's Well That Ends Well which will again be shown on a big screen at the Maltings on Thursday, October 1st 2009.

We would like the make a block booking for FSC supporters so, if you would like to join us, please contact our Events Organiser, Margot Tringham, directly on 01252 716453, or by email on maggiethecat95@hotmail.com. Tickets cost £10 each.

NATIONAL HERITAGE OPEN DAY
Saturday, September 12th 2009

FSC is hoping to take part in this event again this year, probably on the new bandstand in Gostrey Meadows. We are planning to perform an extract from Much Ado About Nothing at 11.30am and at 2.00pm. Do come along and give us your support, it is always much appreciated.

I wish you a relaxed and enjoyable summer and look forward to meeting you at these exciting events.

With best wishes,

Ann Wake
